OUR MISSION

Missouri’s rural citizens enjoy unique advantages and also face unique challenges.

The advantages include enjoying our natural beauty at a low cost of living, a friendly business environment, and a ready workforce equipped with that renowned midwestern work ethic. Access to world-class health care, infrastructure, and maintaining vibrant social connections can be more difficult.

A resilient community takes advatage of its assets while addressing head-on the challenges. It is this balance that Task Force 109 seeks to enhance. Our rural communities are vital to the nation’s prosperity and Missouri’s will lead the way.

OUR APPROACH

Sometimes a thousand candles, other times a bonfire.

Missouri’s rural counties are vastly different - and no one size solution fits them all. Listening to local residents and leaders, we identify critical elements that would enable and reward collaboration between existing community resources. We believe that churches, coaches, parents, public servants, and charities collectively have the means and will to build the ladders of success but often compete instead of cooperate, unintentionally, in their common mission. Our desired end state is to institutionalize rural cooperation at the community and county level. Done correctly, young Missourians can then choose to remain, or return,   seeing no clear advantage in opportunity nor happiness in living elsewhere.
